ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man accused of peeping after Rock Hill police said he used a cell phone and a GoPro camera to photograph a woman at a pool had those charges dismissed Tuesday.
Police said Sean Kilkenny told them he was photographing “the scenery” at the Lexington Commons pool.
They said Kilkenny used the GoPro camera underwater.
A lot of people were at the pool, including an off-duty police officer.
Dana Edwards said she has seen Kilkenny around since he moved into the neighborhood a month ago.
"He's always quiet, to himself, stayed outside, walked his dog. He seemed real polite,” Edwards said.
People started to get uncomfortable watching Kilkenny at the pool.
"It's sickening. I mean, it's scary,” a resident said.
The off-duty officer said he became concerned when he reported seeing Kilkenny get into the pool with a GoPro camera and taking pictures of women underwater.
"When something like that happens, you're just always, wow,” the officer said.
Kilkenny turned over his iPhone and his GoPro to police.
"Even when they're (police) off duty, they're able to do things some of us couldn't do, so I think that really helped out a lot,” Edwards said.
On Kilkenny's phone, officers said they found close-up pictures of women at the pool.
He was booked in jail on a $25,000 bail but police on Tuesday said they had dismissed the charge of voyeurism.
