CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a man accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint during a meeting for an online exchange
Officials said 19-year-old Terrence James Greene has been charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
The robbery happened on June 5 along Riding Trail Road in east Charlotte.
Police said the victim reported she was meeting someone to buy a phone that she saw for sale on MarketPlace through Facebook.
Authorities said the victim was with two other people when the suspect robbed them at gunpoint. He fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive.
Police were able to issue a warrant for Greene's arrest based on information and evidence from the initial investigation. Officers arrested Greene Thursday, June 13.
CMPD said this case is a reminder to residents to use the designated Exchange Zones at various QuikTrip locations.
They said this option provides a safer alternative for making online transactions and are under 24-hour surveillance.
