CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man tried to lure a 14-year-old girl into his car on Thursday after talking to her outside a convenience store near The Plaza, state troopers said.
When the girl’s grandfather came out of the store, Kenneth Brewer, 55, pointed a gun at him, troopers said.
A state trooper at the convenience store drew his gun and demanded that Brewer put down his weapon.
The trooper said Brewer got into the passenger side of his car.
Officials said they do not know where he put the gun.
An ALE agent and a CMPD police officer were also at the scene.
Brewer was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, resistance and obstruction, as well as possession of marijuana and other drugs.
He is still in jail on a $40,000 bond. He is expected in court Friday afternoon.
