MATTHEWS, N.C. — A man was arrested after reports of robberies at restaurants in Matthews.
Matthews police were called at 2:13 p.m. Monday to the Pizza Hut on Independence Boulevard. While officers were responding, officials received a second call about a robbery at the La Cancha restaurant, also on Independence Boulevard.
A man was seen running from the area. Officers took him into custody. Officials said two witnesses identified him in connection with the robberies.
Eric Dale Zakobielski was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It was reported that Zakobielski brandished a folding knife at La Cancha, but no injuries were reported in either incident, police said.
