CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who plead guilty to sexually abusing a Charlotte toddler will spend the next two decades of his life in prison.
Tuesday Vincent McDougald plead guilty to the sex charges in court. Investigators arrested him back in 2011 and accused him of a crime so horrendous even the district attorney's office was shocked.
"It was a really horrible crime one of the worst I've seen in the 12 years since I've been a DA and today the very young victim got justice," said Kelly Stetzer Assistant District Attorney.
Investigators said McDougald's crimes took place at the Silver Oak Apartment Complex in East Charlotte.
He met the little girl's mother, Darlene Enos, on a website devoted to bondage. He came to Charlotte to have sex with her and her one-year-old daughter. Enos even admitted to helping him and to sexually assaulting the girl herself.
"He's sick, he's sick. Anybody who would do something like that is sick," said Meeko Simmonds, who lives in Silver Oak.
Prosecutors said McDougald was eager to plead guilty and even told others he had a problem.
"Witnesses were interviewed and indicated that he had a pornography addiction and sexual thoughts he could not control," said Stetzer.
The little girl's biological father was visibly upset during the hearing Tuesday. At one point he walked out of the room.
McDougald will serve that 23-to-28 year sentence and once he's released he'll be monitored by a satellite for the rest of his life.
Enos plead guilty to her role in the crime. She is expected to appear in court in March.
