Man sentenced to life for east Charlotte murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of a Charlotte woman in her SUV.

A jury found Emileo Blount guilty Thursday afternoon.

He and two other men were accused in the death of Tawanna Montgomery in 2007.

She was shot in her SUV on Academy Street in east Charlotte.

A judge sentenced Blount to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years, with up 18 years after that for other charges.
