Teen wanted in deadly shooting in Concord neighborhood was on probation

CONCORD, N.C. — Police have identified a suspect in the shooting death of a man in a Concord neighborhood Saturday evening.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on Lincoln Street and Polk Avenue.

When officers got to the area, they found a 31-year-old Derron Jordan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting.

Officers have obtained warrants for 16-year-old Omarionne Hudson on charges of first-degree murder. Authorities said he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Hudson was on probation when the deadly shooting happened after stealing a car last year.

The driver of that vehicle said she was shocked that Hudson is now accused of murder.

“He stole my seat covers,” victim Jennifer Dominguez said. “He stole my dead uncle’s wallet. He stole my dead uncle’s rifle.”

The carjacking happened six months ago.

“I felt violated,” Dominguez said. “He went through all my stuff. He stole from me. He stole from other people, left their stuff in my car. It was awful.”

Dominguez said if Hudson was still in jail for the carjacking, Saturday’s murder would not have happened.

Hudson was sentenced to 30 months of probation in September for stealing Dominguez’s car, breaking into another vehicle and stealing a gun, according to court records.

Dominguez said that punishment was not enough for his criminal history.

“Who really dropped the ball? Was it the court system? The police officers did their job. The court is who should have handled it,” she said. “Now, somebody's dead, more cars have been stolen, and where is he?”

Dominguez has a message for the teen, who is on the run from the police.

“Turn yourself in and do the right thing,” she said. “Everybody can change. Just because he was bad before, doesn't mean it's always going to be the same.”

Concord police along with U.S. marshals are looking for Hudson.

Anyone who harbors the criminal could face charges as well, authorities said.
