Man who killed wife for talking to spend 20 years in prison

LANCASTER, S.C. — A man who told police he killed his wife because she would not stop talking will spend at least 20 years in prison.

Joseph Hilton admitted to murdering his wife last February at their home in Lancaster County.

On the 911 call, Hilton calmly told the operator he shot his wife, Deborah, and thought she was dead.

His public defender told the Herald in Rock Hill that Hilton did not want to put his family through the stress of a trial so he pleaded guilty.
