CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a massive brawl happened at the NDemand Entertainment Complex on East 28th Street in Charlotte.
The fight that is captured on video was violent.
Men were standing on one side of the room hurling chairs toward a group of women.
Then, at one point, one woman picked up a whole table and threw it. She then blocked a chair flung at her and caught another one with one hand while holding her purse with the other.
After about three minutes, the crowd started to break up.
Eyewitness News first saw the video Monday night, and since then has been calling and emailing the people involved.
The faces of the people in the video are blurred because police said they are investigating the brawl at the NDemand club in NoDa.
"I have seen it before. Nothing really surprises me, I just try to prepare for it," said Rodney Redmon of Red at 28th.
Tuesday night, both the manager of NDemand and people who attended the party said the fight started with a fashion show contest for members of the gay and transgender community, and the violence happened after a contestant was upset they didn't make the finals.
Eyewitness News reached out to several people who attended the party and none wanted to go on camera.
A source said there has been violence at other parties involving members of this same group.
A source said one meeting even ended in arson at a Double Tree Hotel in south Charlotte in 2011, but all charges were dropped in that case.
Tuesday night, business owners near the NDemand club said this weekend's fight was totally out of control.
"Last week it was like a little riot out here. They were jumping on top of cars," said Darren Vincent of Red at 28th.
Police were not able to charge anyone with this brawl because the crowd scattered.
As they track down those involved, Eyewitness News will report any arrests made.
