MATTHEWS, N.C. — A Matthews family had their new home destroyed in a fire.
The fire began at the house on Jeffrey Lane, just off Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
Channel 9 photographer Carvon Harrington was live at the scene where firefighters controlled the fire and assessed the damage. The family said they had only moved in three weeks ago.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
