CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County was awarded a $6.1 million contract by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to bring improvements to many primary and secondary roads, starting as early as this month.
The contract includes milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction to around 18 miles throughout the county.
The sections of primary roads that will be improved include:
- N.C. 16, also known as Brookshire Boulevard, between Fred D. Alexander Boulevard and Lawton Road
- N.C. 73 between West Catawba Avenue and Interstate 77.
The segments of secondary roads that will be improved include:
- Runnymede Lane and Woodlawn Road between Sharon Road and Park Road.
- Westinghouse Boulevard between N.C. 49 (South Tryon Street and Granite Street).
- Caldwell Road between Back Creek Church Road and the Cabarrus County line.
The NCDOT said the work could start as soon as April 26 and should be completed by November 2023.
