Charlotte-area standouts heading to Super Bowl with Philadelphia Eagles

Weddington High School Both Shipley and Carter will make their first Super Bowl appearances this year when the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

CHARLOTTE — Two former high school football standouts from the Charlotte area are heading to the Super Bowl.

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders 55-23 on Sunday afternoon in the NFC Championship Game with two former area standouts leading the way.

Weddington’s Will Shipley scored a touchdown late in the 4th quarter and rushed for 77 yards. Mallard Creek’s Jordan Davis had four tackles and a sack this postseason.

Shipley will make his first Super Bowl appearance and Davis will make his second.
