CHARLOTTE — Mama Ricotta’s is temporarily closed for a $1 million renovation that is set to expand the kitchen, reshape the dining room and help streamline operations.
That project should wrap in late November, with the restaurant reopening in time for the holidays.
“If you have a big enough list of things that need to get done, you have to close. Obviously, it’s a gamble, but we feel like we’re investing in our business,” says Frank Scibelli, CEO of FS Food Group.
The 4,400-square-foot restaurant has been a fixture at the Midtown Terrace shopping center since 2002 and part of the Charlotte dining scene for 30 years.
Expansion planned at Mama Ricotta’s will add roughly 1,700 square feet to the Italian concept. It increases the restaurant’s footprint on South Kings Drive by nearly 39%.
Scibelli’s FS Food Group is also planning expansion at Midwood Smokehouse in Plaza Midwood. It recently signed a lease that will expand its footprint there by 1,650 square feet.
