Millions of Hyundai, Kia drivers not taking necessary steps to prevent theft, Carfax report says

CHARLOTTE — Many Kia and Hyundai drivers aren’t stepping up to protect their cars.

A recent report from CARFAX shows that millions of people across the United States are not taking the necessary action to protect their Hyundais and Kias from theft.

Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke read over the report, which showed that more than 170,000 drivers from North Carolina and more than 90,000 from South Carolina still need to get a software upgrade or a steering wheel lock from the police.

In the Queen City alone, about 90,000 drivers have not made either of the safety changes to their cars.

Stoogenke says to take the time to upgrade your car’s software at the dealership and grab a steering wheel lock from the police; both are free.
