CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After disappearing for three days, a 13-year-old south Charlotte girl has been found safe and unharmed.
Kiley Hegger was reunited with her parents around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police are not saying where she was before officers found her in her neighborhood.
Hegger went missing from her home on Nantucket Lane, just off Pineville-Matthews Road, around 11:15 p.m. Monday.
There is now new effort in the state capitol to protect missing children.
The House passed a bill Thursday that would make it a felony for parents to wait more than 24 hours to file a police report about a missing child.
The bill is called "Caylee's Law," named after Florida toddler Caylee Anthony.
Caylee was reported missing a month after she disappeared.
The Senate will now vote on the bill.
