MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Mooresville town leaders are considering making renovations to Liberty Park center, which would include the existing war memorial, for the first time since the center was built nearly 70 years ago.
The changes would include a new memorial, improved indoor or outdoor pools, a playground, classrooms, a gym and more.
Some Mooresville residents are worried that the cost, which would be between $30 million and $40 million, would come out of their pockets.
They are also worried about losing the center’s historical significance.
Town leaders said the plan is to pay tribute to those who have served in the military.
They also plan to collect public input moving forward.
