Power restored for thousands in Charlotte area, Duke Energy says

CHARLOTTE — More than 6,000 people woke up without power Friday morning in Mecklenburg County, according to Duke Energy.

Duke’s outage map shows over 3,000 people were without power in the Davis Lake area due to downed trees and limbs damaging equipment.

In the north Charlotte area near Beatties Ford, another 2,000 woke up without power. The outage was restored just before 6 a.m. All other outages were restored around 10 a.m.

Both outages are expected to be restored by around 8 a.m., according to Duke Energy. There are other small outages in the area.

Channel 9 is working to learn more about the outages and will provide updates as they come in.
