GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in north Gaston County Monday evening.
The collision happened around 8:45 p.m. on northbound US-321 near Hardin Road, north of Dallas.
Troopers said a driver hit and killed 31-year-old Amanda Johnson as she walked into the northbound lanes.
Investigators told Channel 9 the driver stopped and remained at the scene, and that no charges will be filed.
The highway was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the scene.
