HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Employees at the Huntersville Bi-Lo pharmacy tells Channel 9 Charity White no longer workers there.
Eyewitness News does not know if she was fired or if she quit, but do know that the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy suspended her license for seven days.
The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy received several complaints about what White was doing at the pharmacy inside the supermarket.
Channel 9 dug into state documents disciplining White and found that on Aug. 3 2012, White dispensed 90 units of oxycodone to a patient, one day before the prescription was due to be refilled.
On Aug. 6 2012, White dispensed 30 dosage units of Roxicodone, eight days before refill.
Then on Aug. 9, 2012, White dispensed 20 Fentanyl patches in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant to a patient who only had a prescription for 13 patches.
In addition, there are claims White altered documents and changed dates.
Pharmacy Board Executive Director Jay Campbell said they investigate all complaints whether they are made by a member of the public, health care provider, or law enforcement.
“The nature of the investigation depends on the nature of the complaint but it typically involves visits to the pharmacy and interviews with pharmacy personnel," said Campbell.
Customers outside the pharmacy said they are surprised to hear about White's suspension.
Thomas Torres didn't know until Eyewitness News told him.
"It's one of the best pharmacies in this area. Been good. Never had any problems," said Torres.
Typically, in these cases the pharmacist has the option to appeal.
However, White agreed to the terms so she cannot appeal the suspension.
