GREENVILLE, N.C. — A service dog can now do more for his Army veteran owner after receiving crucial surgery due to an outpouring of support from around the world.
Greenville, North Carolina veteran Rich Canino said his dog Addie alerts people if he has a seizure, but she suffers from cataracts.
The procedure to correct the dog's cataracts costs nearly $4,000 dollars.
Canino said he asked his Greenville community for help, but donations poured in from across the globe.
"We received money from everywhere, Puerto Rico, we got money from England, we got money from, there was a lad that sent $20 from Australia. It was amazing," Canino said.
Canino said he now wants to continue to pay it forward. He said he will be keeping the fundraiser open to support other veteran non-profits.
