New hospital built on land of old Hall Family Farms preparing for patients

CHARLOTTE — A new hospital is now complete in Ballantyne after four years of construction.

The Novant hospital now sits where the Hall Family Farms used to be on Providence Road West. Tom Hall told Channel 9′s Anthony Kustura the property where the hospital now is was in his family for 100 years until they sold it to Novant.

“For 100 years, grass was the enemy, we fought the grass and now we’re cultivating grass on the same property,” Hall said.

When the family operation outgrew the land, the Halls relocated. They didn’t want a subdivision or strip mall to be built on the property. The perfect solution was a hospital, according to Hall.

“It became a no-brainer at that point,” Hall said.

The hospital is now weeks away from opening. It includes dozens of beds, two operating rooms and a long list of services.

The hospital is fully staffed and ready to serve a busy part of Charlotte.

“I’m grateful and a little surprised we’re able to get that amount of staff,” Ben Brodersen said.

The medical campus will open to patients on June 12th.
