CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — A new natural gas plant will light thousands of homes and pump hundreds of millions of dollars into Cleveland County's economy.
Southern Power's new facility began operating this week outside of Kings Mountain.
It can provide electricity to 350,000 homes through Duke Energy's power grid.
The Atlanta-based company has committed to invest more than $330 million in the local economy.
