New video shows moments before deadly YouTube stunt

MINNESOTA — New video has been released a year after a YouTube stunt turned deadly.

Pedro Ruiz, 22, was shot and killed by his then-pregnant girlfriend with a .50 caliber handgun in Minnesota.

Ruiz’s dream was to videotape unimaginable stunts.

Officials released a transcript of the deadly stunt.

The transcript says Ruiz asked his pregnant girlfriend, Monalisa Perez, to fire a large handgun at him from feet away, with his only protection being an encyclopedia with a bullseye she hit nearly spot-on.

The transcript says Ruiz reassured his girlfriend, saying “As long as you hit the book, you'll be fine."

But Ruiz seemed to realize how dangerous the stunt was, but went through with it anyway.

Ruiz left behind two young children.

In March, Perez was jailed for six months after pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter.
