Niche ranks the Charlotte area’s top public high schools

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The CBJ is continuing its four-part series that delves into newly released rankings on the best K-12 schools in the Charlotte region. In this third installment, the spotlight is on local public high schools.

The top-ranked public high schools here are Ardrey Kell High School in the Ballantyne area, Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw and Weddington High School in Matthews, according to Niche, a Pittsburgh-based research and review site.

In compiling its seventh annual set of rankings, Niche analyzed academic data and reviews from students and parents for 94,710 public schools, 24,099 private schools and 11,822 school districts nationwide. For public high schools, it included factors such as state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT and ACT scores and teacher quality.
