BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A cabbie was killed after the taxi he was driving crashed into a home in Burlington, North Carolina, early Wednesday morning, emergency officials said.
The taxi slammed into the house just after 6 a.m. on Maple Avenue.
Police said the driver was thrown from the car and trapped beneath the rubble.
A woman was home at the time but was not injured.
She said she awoke to a loud boom and the car smoking in her living room, and is grateful she decided to sleep in her bed last night instead of the couch.
The driver of the taxi was the only person inside the car. His name has not been released.
