November brought new restaurants, bars across Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE — Several restaurants and watering holes have recently opened across the Charlotte area, just in time for the holiday season.

In the SouthPark area, Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse debuted its sixth location in early November, taking over a roughly 12,000-square-foot space formerly home to TacoMac. Farther south, in Fort Mill, Naf Naf Middle Eastern Grill cracked into the Carolinas with a 2,000-square-foot restaurant, the first of what could be up to five locations in the Charlotte market for its local franchisee.

And Sycamore Brewing’s latest outpost has also opened in time to take advantage of the busy holiday travel rush at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. That taproom, at the airport’s newly expanded Concourse E, serves wine and food in addition to Sycamore’s own craft beer.

Elsewhere in Charlotte, multiple new spots for grabbing a drink opened last month. That includes Ten58 Sports Bar and Lounge in uptown’s Third Ward — a 2,313-square-foot venue owned and operated by former Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis and wife Kelly. In South End, a pocket bar called Green Room is now open in the Gold District, and Weathered Souls Brewing Co. out of Texas is up and running — currently the Queen City’s only Black-owned brewery.

Looking ahead to 2023, the much-anticipated arrival of Leluia Hall — a fine-dining establishment by Charlotte restaurateurs Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown that’s set in a Dilworth church — is expected to occur this summer, as is the opening of a Matthews location for brunch concept Ruby Sunshine. And Salata Salad Kitchen in lower South End is eyeing a second-quarter opening as one of the first tenants to sign on to The Station at LoSo development.
