Officials: Remains found in 1990 identified as missing woman

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Detectives just determined bones found more than 20 years ago belong to a missing Gaston County woman.

The bones were found in South Carolina in 1990.

The coroner said they belong to Madelyn Thomas. She was 32 years old when she was reported missing.

The coroner believes she was stabbed.

Gaston County police and the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office are now working to solve the case.
