Marion Yarborough, 51, died of gunshot wounds during the shootout involving several people inside and outside a home in Lincoln County on May 6, deputies said.

The shooting happened about 2:45 p.m. on Painter Lane.

When deputies arrived, they found Yarborough dead in the front yard of the home.

Police said a Moore and Currence fled the scene.

Investigators said Moore, Yarborough and Currence entered the home on Painter Lane wanting to sell firearms. An argument ensued and they placed a person in the home on the floor at gunpoint.

A female resident heard the altercation and came out of a back bedroom firing her handgun at the men, police said.

The guns they were trying to sell had been stolen earlier in the day from a location in Gastonia, authorities said.

One neighbor told Channel 9 they woke up to gunshots and then rushed for cover.

Another neighbor said the gunshots were nothing new and that they haven't felt safe there in years.

“It's a bad drug area,” the neighbor said.
