The wreck happened around 9:29 p.m. on Mount Holly Road.

The driver of a white Hyundai Sonata had a 14-month-old child inside the car. Officials said the driver and the child were properly restrained. They were both taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of a silver Honda Accord was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 25-year-old Christopher Scott White Jr., according to police.

Investigators said the driver of the Honda Accord was traveling east on Mount Holly Road when the vehicle began to lose control in a curve and crossed the double yellow line into the westbound lane.

The Honda Accord was hit on the driver’s side by the front end of the Hyundai Sonata, which was traveling west when it left the roadway, according to officials.

The CMPD Major Crash Investigations and the DWI Task Force said the driver of the Hyundai will not be charged and that speed and reckless driving were not factors in the crash.

However, officials did say speed and reckless driving were factors for the driver of the Honda Accord. His family has been notified of his death.
