Speed, alcohol were factors in deadly Mooresville crash, police say

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Speed and alcohol were factors in a crash that killed one person and injured another in Mooresville, police said.

First responders were called just after midnight to the scene on Oak Tree Road, just off Brawley School Road.

According to officials, a Toyota pickup truck was traveling along Oak Tree Road when the driver lost control and the truck ran off the right side of the road, hitting a utility pole and flipping over.

Zachary Robert Speicher, 26, of Mooresville, who was in the truck, was thrown from the vehicle and died, police said. It is unclear if he was the driver or passenger.

Andrew Kindley, 33, of Mooresville, survived the crash and was treated at the scene.

Oak Tree Road was closed while crews worked to repair the snapped utility pole.
