Over 100 trees planted at Nations Ford Elementary on Saturday morning

CHARLOTTE — A group of volunteers added a large touch of spring to the grounds around Nations Ford Elementary on Saturday morning.

With the support of Wells Fargo and the North Carolina Urban Forest Council’s Legacy Tree Fund, TreesCharlotte added a total of 131 trees to the school’s grounds. The trees were planted by both volunteers and trained tree masters; they also handled tree gifts that were given in honor of lost loved ones.

According to TreesCharlotte, trees planted around schools improve learning ability and allow students to be in touch with the natural environment; recess around trees can also improve students’ focus and reduce ADHD symptoms.
