Panthers announce opening of Play 60 KidZone playground at Freedom Park

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers will be officially announcing the opening of Play 60 KidZone playground at Mecklenburg County’s Freedom Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Carolina Panthers, in partnership with Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation, the National Football League and United Way, will unveil the Play 60 KidZone on Tuesday.

The Play 60 KidZone will feature an obstacle course, 40 yard dash with automated timing device, Play 60 photo booth, Pep Talk Station and other elements.

The $275,000 project was funded by the Carolina Panthers Charities in addition to an initial seed grant from the NFL in partnership with United Way.

The official ribbon cutting for the Carolina Panthers Play 60 KidZone will be held at Freedom Park from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on 1900 East Blvd.

Panthers players will be joined by children from United Way recipient agencies Boys & Girls Club and the Stratford-Richardson YMCA for the ceremony and Play 60 KidZone demonstration.
