Panthers’ Jaycee Horn talks football inspirations, new leadership role

CHARLOTTE — You don’t really want to ever hear a cornerbacks name during a football broadcast. That usually means they are getting beat in coverage.

But the Panthers’ Jaycee Horn has played so well in his second year, you can’t help but talk about him.

The cornerback has had 24 solo tackles and two interceptions in 2022.

Horn sat down with Channel 9 to talk about what has inspired him to push himself outside of his comfort zone.

”I kind of think of the mamba mentality, just attacking everything with extreme extreme focus,” Horn said of his mentality. “Even when I was young, LeBron was coming up. All of my friends were Lebron fans so I found myself always defending Kobe.”

Horn has found more of a leadership role throughout the season after defensive leader Donte Jackson went down with a season-ending injury.

Horn said he has worked on trying to be more of a vocal leader and looks to keep improving in that area.
