CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Paramedics said a person died Friday afternoon in an accident in the 2800 block of West Tyvola Road.
Officials said Kendei Ramirez was killed in the accident.
Police said Ramirez was operating a 2001 Ford Escape when he attempted to make an illegal U-turn and was struck by a truck at 3:10 p.m.
Nathaniel Brewer who was driving the truck was taken to Carolinas Medical Center -- Main with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police do not believe speed or alcohol were a factor.
