A parking lot in Plaza Midwood is being transformed into a new street, but the people who live in the area said they had no idea it was happening until they spotted construction crews.
You go to sleep one night and you gotta parking lot. You wake up the next morning and it's a city street," homeowner Michael Mullins said.

The parking lot is off Commonweath Avenue near Briar Creek Road and Green Oaks Lane, but soon it will be a city road.
The neighborhood HOA said no parking spots will be lost.
Late Friday, the HOA contacted Channel 9 to comment on our report.
“The claim our lot is being turned into a street and residence will lose parking, is incorrect.”
The HOA said it has 228 parking spaces now and plans are to still have the same amount when construction is complete.
