Pedestrian killed trying to cross I-77 in York County, troopers says

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Troopers in South Carolina are investigating after a tractor-trailer and car struck and killed a pedestrian on Interstate 77 Tuesday night.

It happened as the victim, who has not been identified, was trying to cross the northbound lanes near Dave Lyle Boulevard around 9 p.m.

The victim was first struck by an 18-wheeler and then by a car, troopers said. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The drivers of the vehicles that hit the pedestrian were not hurt, troopers said.

The collision remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
