Person dies, another hurt in Chester County crash, troopers say

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Troopers said a person is dead and another is hurt after a crash in Chester County Sunday evening.

The single-vehicle crash happened just after 5 pm. on Hightower Road near Richburg Road.

Troopers said the driver traveled off the right side of the road, lost control, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where they died, officials said. Their identity has not been released.

A passenger in the car was airlifted to CMC Main for his injuries.

According to troopers, both people were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

No other details have been released at this point.
