CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County’s most expensive home sale in November — the $7 million purchase of an estate in The Peninsula neighborhood of Cornelius — set a record for that Lake Norman town about 20 miles north of Charlotte. And it came less than a year after the previous record-setting residential sale there.

The Mediterranean-style home on Jetton Road clocks in at more than 11,700 square feet, including five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and four half-bathrooms. It was built in 2015 on a 0.7-acre lot, with a pool and patio area fronting Lake Norman.

The property was not listed in Canopy MLS. It had last sold for $4.2 million in May 2007, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.

The residence is about 3 miles away from the home that had most recently set the record, an 11,672-square-foot property that sold for $6.6 million in late December 2020.

And it’s the second home sale in Cornelius to top $5 million in as many months. In early October, a residence just a couple doors down on Jetton Road traded for $5.4 million.
