Plan for big residential development in region irks neighbors

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A sprawling residential development in the region has run into opposition from nearby residents, prompting elected leaders to put off making a decision about whether to approve or reject the project. The Shelby Star reported on the project by developer R.D. Harrell Co. and its recent public hearing before the Kings Mountain City Council.

The development, dubbed Cannon 35, would add 730 residential units on a 57-acre site that’s not far from the Catawba Indian Nation’s casino project.
