Police: 76 machines, $5,000 seized at sweepstakes business

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Seventy-six electronic sweepstakes gaming machines and $5,000 was seized in a business Friday, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Detectives went to Brookshire Business Center, at 3730 Brookshire Blvd., after it failed to comply with a written notice from the District Attorney's Office.

The business was found to be in violation of gambling and electronic sweepstakes laws, according to police.

Police said it was an ongoing investigation and criminal charges are pending.
