Police arrest serial flasher accused of flashing 5-year-old

GASTONIA, N.C. — A suspected serial flasher on probation for indecent exposure cut off his ankle bracelet before he allegedly exposed himself to a woman, her brother and a 5-year-old boy.

Dea Williams faced a judge Friday on charges of resisting arrest and indecent exposure. The judge raised Williams' bond to $200,000 after learning he violated his probation by removing the ankle bracelet less than two days after leaving jail for his previous conviction.

Police said Williams exposed himself to the victim and her brother while they were waiting for an appointment outside a lawyer's office in Gastonia.

Friday, that woman, Paulette Broyles, told Channel 9 her nephew was also in the car and witnessed the incident.

"He raised his shirt and showed his whole private area. I just said, 'What?' I freaked out, because this baby was in the car with me," Broyles said, while hugging her nephew.

Thursday's arrest was Williams' eighth for indecent exposure. He was convicted in July for flashing a woman in a church parking lot and for exposing himself inside a non-profit center that helps sex abuse victims, according to prosecutors.

Friday Broyles said she hopes he stays behind bars for good, this time.

"I hope they don't let him out," she said.

Williams' next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 9.
