GEORGETOWN, S.C. — A Charlotte man was arrested after he fired shots at police during a multi-county pursuit in South Carolina, according to police.
According to WPDE, an ABC affiliate in Myrtle Beach, 31-year-old Rayburn Rashad Scott has been charged with attempted armed robbery, first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a handgun and failure to stop for blue lights and siren.
Police said they responded to a Verizon Wireless store for reports of a disorderly conduct customer with a gun.
Officers told WPDE that Scott threatened to kill an employee if he did not get a cellphone. The employee told police he saw the man had a gun at his side.
WPDE reported that the store went into lockdown and police were notified.
Police said the pursuit went from Georgetown County to Williamsburg County, and during the chase, shots were fired from Scott’s car.
Scott was taken into custody after the pursuit ended in Williamsburg County, according to WPDE.
