Police investigate fatal shooting on Hunting Ridge Lane

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Friday night police were at the scene of a fatal shooting off Idlewild Road.

Police cruisers lined the road, though the shooting happened on Hunting Ridge Lane.

Walter Lee Gregory was shot in the chest and killed.

James Stanley Daye has been identified as the suspect in Gregory's murder. Daye was arrested early Saturday morning.

Investigators have determined that the Gregory and Daye were known to one another and had an ongoing dispute.
