Police: Man dies Monday after Nov. 1 shooting

Man shot in northwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide/ADW Unit are conducting a homicide investigation into an event on Nov. 1 that happened in the 3500 block of Kentucky Avenue.

Metro Division patrol officers responded to several 911 calls for service regarding residents hearing gunshots in the area.

They found Shawn Love, 21, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Love was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A second victim arrived at Carolinas Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Love died Monday at Carolinas Medical Center.

At this time, it appears Love and the second victim were involved in an exchange of gunfire with several other men when they were shot.
