Police make arrest nearly two years after man shot, killed near I-85 in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have made an arrest nearly two years after a man was found shot to death in north Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged 22-year-old Treyvon Harris for the murder of Tyshawn Boyd.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2019 near West Sugar Creek Road and Interstate 85.

When officers and MEDIC arrived on scene, they found 21-year-old Boyd suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the side of the road.

Officials said Boyd was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was pronounced dead at Atrium Main.

Throughout the investigation, detectives identified Harris as a suspect and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest.

He is currently at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for unrelated charges, but officials said he will be served the murder warrant there.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.
