MONROE, N.C. — A Monroe woman is devastated after she found her dog dead in the backyard. Monroe police said it was shot six times.
Konecca Moody and her grandson Donta were getting ready for church Sunday morning when Donta went outside to feed their four dogs, including Razor, a pit bull.
"First I called his name then I started whistling,” Moody said. “When he still didn't come, I went over to him and just saw him lying there."
Moody said Razor is kept on a chain but she said someone took him off the chain and left him lying on the ground.
Police said Razor was shot six times with a small-caliber weapon. Investigators didn't find any shell casings on the ground.
Moody said no one in the house heard any gunshots and all of her dogs are either in a cage or chained. She said they bark but they're friendly and well-behaved dogs.
Police said they have no suspects at this time and are still investigating what happened.
