Officials: Student saw man in college parking lot touching self

MONROE, N.C. — Monroe detectives are searching for a man they said flashed a college student.

Investigators said the victim saw a man touching himself Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of South Piedmont Community College in Monroe.

She said the man was very bold following her and her friend to her car in the school parking lot, then making a move no one saw coming.

Police want him caught before he does it again.

"The individual has been reported as a white man in his early 20s with blond hair. It was a red Toyota Corolla with gold emblems on it and we just want to find the guy to hold him accountable for what he did," said  city spokesman Pete Hovanec.

A student at SPCC told us he's the one who first drove by her and her friend when they were walking from class to her car.

She said when they got in the car to leave, they saw him pulled up near them, then lift his hips to expose himself through the car window while making an obscene gesture.

She then told school security and called the police.

She didn't want us to show her face because of embarrassment, but she told us she is still in shock over what she saw.

"At first, I was just trying to figure out if that really just happened and me and the other girl looked at each other and said did that really just happen," she said.
