Police call off search for alleged McDonald's robber

Police spent hours searching for a robber they said held up a Concord McDonald’s restaurant, fled and then ran into a neighborhood.

CONCORD, N.C.,None — Police spent hours searching for a robber they said held up a Concord McDonald's restaurant, fled and then ran into a neighborhood.

Police said the man walked into the restaurant on Davidson Highway 73 near Interstate 85, and indicated he had a weapon and took money in the register.

He then took off running, police said.

Police interviewed a witness to the robbery, who said they followed the suspect about three miles down Davidson Highway to a gas station at the corner of Davidson Highway and Central Drive.

At that point, the suspect got out and ran, the witness said.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and search dogs were brought in.

The description of the man is vague but police said he was tall, white man.

Police have not said if anyone has been arrested.
