Police search for man who crashed into Verizon Wireless store

BOONE, N.C. — Boone police are searching for a man they said crashed into a Verizon Wireless store and then drove off.

Customers next door said they saw the whole thing happen.

Boone firefighters shut off the power to the store to prevent a fire.

Witnesses said the man in the car threatened them.

"The clerk locked the door because we didn't know if he was going to get and start shooing or rob the place," said a witness.

Boone police and Watauga deputies are searching the Perkinsville area for the suspect.
