Police step up patrols in Hickory, Lenoir after robberies

HICKORY, N.C. — Police are stepping up patrols around local restaurants after three armed robberies.

The Burger King on Springs Road in Hickory has been hit twice, and the Tripps on Lenoir Rhyne Boulevard was just recently hit.

Police said the Tripps had just closed when two employees were robbed at gunpoint and ordered back inside to open the safe, but that is not where it ended.

Now nearby restaurants are adding surveillance cameras and making their rear doors more secure.

Right now, police only have a vague description of the suspect – a 5-foot-10, slender white male.
